At 10 am today, our Prime Minister announced the extension of the lockdown till the 3rd of May. We all anticipated this, given the rising numbers of people infected, but somewhere in our mind, we were hopeful that the lockdown would end today and from tomorrow onwards we can get back to normal. The pre-Corona normal. What happens when that last shred of hope disappears?
We all know that this extension is essential but we are restless and worried. Restless because we are stuck in our homes for the last 3 weeks (except for the occasional grocery shopping) and worried because of all the uncertainty. Will we get past this? Will we move on from this pandemic and live a healthy life? Will the world recover from this stand-still? (Will our stock investments make a profit again?) How will we survive?
We don't have the answers. But can we do something ourselves to remedy this? Well, the answer is that we are already doing it. By being good citizens and staying indoors, we are bringing down the chances of this pandemic spreading into the community and that counts. So stay indoors and don't worry.
As the saying in Swahili goes (I learnt it from the movie The Lion King and hence the drawing), Hakuna Matata which means 'No worries'. Do your bit and don't worry. We will sail through this as well.
Stay indoors, stay healthy.
